Dealing With Cursed Items

Posted on 3/24/2013

As I have traveled throughout the country in my Christian walk and visited the homes of people, I continue to be floored by the number of "accursed items" I see in their homes. People do this despite the clear spiritual admonition of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible considered "the Law"):

Neither shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it: but you shall utterly detest it, and you shall utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing. (Deuteronomy 7:26)

In our "modern" church age, preachers and other so-called church leaders tell us that we are somehow above these teachings of Moses and can do what we want, just because we are "living under grace." Yet, when the harsh realities appear, the theological theories our preachers have been teaching us for years have proven not to be viable.

Accursed items can be many things. One of the more common items I see is Buddhas that people pick up when they visit the Far East. What most people do not understand is that a Buddha is an idol to a false god (despite their claims to the contrary). One of the many verses dealing with them in the Torah is the following:

The graven images of their elohiym (gods) shall ye burn with fire: you shall not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto you, lest you be snared therein: for it is an abomination to Yahuah Elohayka.  (Deuteronomy 7:25)

The Israelites were instructed to burn them and not to even desire the gold and silver used to make the images. The reason for this is very simple: the item is cursed and gives ground for evil spirits to reside in your home and property. We see a New Testament example of this in the Book of Acts:

And this was known to all the Yahudiym (Jews) and Yavaniym (Greeks) also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of Adonai Yahusha was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and showed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their cepheriym together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the Word of Elohiym and prevailed. (Acts 19:17-20)

When the people were willing to burn their occult books, (worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in today's money) the Word of Yahuah was stronger in that city than it was in any other city Paul preached in. These people knew about the evil power contained these books and if they were going to serve Yahuah, they could not have these books in their house. Paul would later write an epistle to this church, which is heavily preached from in our modern day.
